Questions investors ask
Which is the largest US company by market value?
Among the 1514 US-listed companies on these pages, Apple (AAPL) is the largest, worth $4.92T on Oct 28, 2026, followed by NVIDIA ($4.87T) and Microsoft ($3.77T).
How many US companies are worth more than $1 trillion?
11 of the companies on this page, as of Oct 28, 2026: Apple (AAPL), NVIDIA (NVDA), Microsoft (MSFT), Alphabet (GOOG), Amazon.com (AMZN), Tesla (TSLA), Meta Platforms (META), Broadcom (AVGO), Eli Lilly (LLY), Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B) and Walmart (WMT).
How is market value measured here?
The share price times the number of shares outstanding. For a company with more than one class of shares (Alphabet, Berkshire Hathaway), every class is counted; for a listing of depositary shares, the shares each one represents.
How this ranking is built
- Which companies: the 1514 companies with stock pages: the largest US-listed companies by market value that file annual reports (10-Ks) with the SEC. Foreign companies that file 20-F or 40-F reports instead aren’t covered yet, so ranks are among these companies, not every US-listed stock.
- Market value: The share price times the number of shares outstanding. For a company with more than one class of shares (Alphabet, Berkshire Hathaway), every class is counted; for a listing of depositary shares, the shares each one represents.
- Market value: the latest close times the shares outstanding on the cover of the latest 10-K or 10-Q. For a company with several share classes, every class is counted; for depositary shares, the shares each one represents.
- Prices and returns: daily closing prices through Oct 28, 2026. Returns include dividends, reinvested. Financial figures come from each company’s latest 10-K, so fiscal years end on different dates.
- Updates: the rankings are recomputed from the stock pages’ own figures whenever those change, so the two always agree.
