The business in plain English
Regal Rexnord, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, makes parts that get machines moving. Its electric motors and fans create motion; its bearings, gearboxes and brakes pass that motion along; and its drives, controllers and actuators control it, in uses from factory automation to surgical tools. Customers include original equipment manufacturers (OEMs, which build its parts into their machines), distributors and end users. Nearly 40% of sales go through distributors, largely replacement-part orders that swing less with the economy. No customer topped 10% of sales in 2023, 2024 or 2025.
In 2025, sales of $5.93 billion came from three segments. Industrial Powertrain Solutions, the largest at 43.7%, makes bearings, gearboxes and related parts for general industry, metals and mining, energy and commercial HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning). Automation & Motion Control, 28.5%, makes conveyors, aerospace parts, precision motors and power equipment for data centers, factories, food and beverage plants and medical uses. Power Efficiency Solutions, 27.8%, makes motors up to about 5 horsepower, fans and blowers for home and commercial HVAC and other equipment.
North America made up 70.1% of sales, Europe 16.9%, Asia 7.5% and the rest of the world 5.5%. Regal Rexnord acquired Altra for $5.1 billion in March 2023 and, in April 2024, completed a $444.0 million sale of its industrial motors and generators businesses.

What could go wrong
- Raw materials and China's rare earth curbs. Many products rely on steel, copper, aluminum, electronics and rare earth magnets. After US tariffs on Chinese goods, China restricted exports of certain rare earth magnets, which could raise costs or limit production.
- Big acquisitions still have to pay off. Regal Rexnord paid $5.1 billion for Altra in 2023 and merged with Rexnord PMC. If expected savings fall short, profits could suffer and goodwill, the premium paid for acquired companies, could be written down.
- Tariffs and overseas manufacturing. The company says US trade policy changes have already hurt its business. It makes many products outside the US, and tariffs on imports from China, Canada, Mexico and India can raise costs.
- A heavy debt load. As of June 30, 2026, debt was about $4.61 billion against $441.6 million in cash. If cash flow weakens, keeping up with that debt could get harder and new borrowing could be limited.
- HVAC, weather and industrial cycles. Many customers spend less when their industries slow, including HVAC, metals and mining, and energy. Mild or cool weather can also cut demand for the HVAC products in Power Efficiency Solutions.
- Product failures and asbestos lawsuits. Some products go into high-volume applications, so a flaw could lead to significant liability and expense. The company also faces product liability, asbestos and warranty claims that could hurt its finances.

For income and retirement investors
Regal Rexnord pays a dividend, but at a yield of 0.87% as of October 28, 2026, it provides little income. The regular dividend grew from $1.20 a share in fiscal 2020 to $1.40 in fiscal 2025, about 3.1% a year, but was not raised in 2025, so there is no active streak of increases. Fiscal 2021's $8.28 per share included what appears to be a special dividend. Fiscal 2025 dividends used 33.3% of earnings and 10.4% of free cash flow (cash left after running and reinvesting in the business). Buybacks totaled $315 million over fiscal 2021–2025, yet the share count rose 63.6% from August 2021 to July 2026.
In the 2022 bear market, the stock fell 37.1% from January 4 to June 17, 2022, then recovered by March 8, 2024, about 20.7 months later. Its price history does not cover 2008 or the 2020 COVID crash. A single stock carries more risk than a diversified fund.
Questions investors ask
How does Regal Rexnord make money?
Regal Rexnord earns money by making motors, power transmission parts and automation products for equipment makers, distributors and end users. Of $5.93 billion in 2025 sales, Industrial Powertrain Solutions, which makes bearings, gearboxes, couplings and brakes, brought in 43.7%. Automation & Motion Control, including conveyors, precision motors and data center power equipment, added 28.5%. Power Efficiency Solutions, with motors, fans and blowers used in heating and air conditioning, added 27.8%. Nearly 40% of sales go through distributors. North America accounted for 70.1% of sales.
Does Regal Rexnord raise its dividend every year?
No. The regular dividend was $1.40 per share in both fiscal 2024 and fiscal 2025, after $1.38 in fiscal 2022 and 2023. Over fiscal 2020 to 2025 it grew about 3.1% a year, from $1.20. The fiscal 2021 total of $8.28 included what appears to be a special dividend. The yield was 0.87% as of October 28, 2026, and fiscal 2025 dividends used 33.3% of earnings and 10.4% of free cash flow.
How much debt does Regal Rexnord have?
Regal Rexnord had about $4.61 billion in total debt as of June 30, 2026, against $441.6 million of cash and investments, leaving net debt of roughly $4.17 billion. Shareholders' equity was about $6.92 billion. Free cash flow was $893.1 million in fiscal 2025, and the company says its cash generation supports paying down debt after acquisitions. Its annual report warns that if cash flow fell short, keeping up with debt payments could get harder and new financing could be limited.
How has Regal Rexnord stock performed?
Unevenly, with big swings. As of October 28, 2026, the share price was up 12.2% over one year and 15.4% year to date, but down 20.4% over three months. Over five years it gained 11% in total, about 2.1% a year. Over three years it gained 39%, about 11.7% a year. By calendar year it fell 28.7% in 2022, rose 24.6% in 2023 and 5.7% in 2024, and fell 8.6% in 2025. These figures exclude dividends.
What is Regal Rexnord's P/E ratio?
Regal Rexnord's price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio, the share price divided by a year's earnings per share, was 38.4 as of October 28, 2026. It is based on fiscal 2025 diluted earnings of $4.20 per share. Fiscal 2025 net income was $279.5 million, while free cash flow was much higher at $893.1 million, so the stock looks less expensive on cash flow than on earnings. Earnings per share have been uneven, from $7.29 in fiscal 2022 to a loss of $0.87 in fiscal 2023.
