The business in plain English
Entegris makes specialty materials and purity products that chipmakers need to build semiconductors. Making a chip takes hundreds of steps, and Entegris sells products for many of them. These include materials for depositing thin films and slurries and pads for chemical mechanical planarization, a polishing step that flattens each layer. It also sells specialty gases that change how silicon conducts electricity, filters that keep chemicals and gases pure, wafer carriers and ultra-clean chemical containers.
Many of these products are consumables that customers use up and replace as their plants run, so sales track chip production. Revenue was $3.2 billion in fiscal 2025, which ended December 31, 2025. Chip factories, called fabs, bought about 62%. Equipment and engineering firms bought about 15%, and chemical and materials companies bought 10%. About 5% came from outside the chip industry.
The company reports two segments. Advanced Purity Solutions sells filters, purifiers and contamination-control products and made up about 56% of fiscal 2025 revenue. Materials Solutions made up about 44%. It sells deposition materials, polishing slurries and pads, specialty gases, and etch and clean chemistries. Most fiscal 2025 sales came from Asia: Taiwan 23%, China 21%, South Korea 13% and Japan 10%. North America added about 18%. Entegris bought CMC Materials in July 2022. It then sold several businesses that came with it, including Electronic Chemicals for $675.3 million.

What could go wrong
- Sales rise and fall with chipmaking. Revenue depends on chip production, which runs in cycles. Some costs are fixed in the short term, so lower sales can shrink profits faster. Fiscal 2025 revenue fell 1.4% and net income fell 19.5%.
- Export rules and tensions in Asia. Taiwan and China made up about 23% and 21% of fiscal 2025 revenue. Export controls, sanctions, tariffs or geopolitical tension could block sales to some customers or raise costs.
- A few big customers matter a lot. A large share of sales goes to a small number of key customers. Losing one, or a big customer cutting orders or delaying new plants, could cause sales and profits to fall significantly.
- A heavy debt load. As of June 27, 2026, Entegris had about $3.46 billion of debt and $354 million of cash and investments. Debt payments and loan terms could limit its flexibility in a downturn.
- Falling behind on chip technology. Chipmakers keep moving to smaller features, new materials and new designs. If Entegris does not keep pace with new products, it could lose market share, and its sales and profits could fall.
- Supplier gaps or factory shutdowns. Entegris relies on some sole or single-source suppliers. A supplier problem, a plant outage or an accident with the hazardous materials it handles could halt production and delay shipments to customers.

For income and retirement investors
Entegris pays a small dividend. It paid $0.40 a share in each of fiscal 2022 through 2025, up from $0.32 in 2020 and 2021, so there is no streak of yearly increases. In fiscal 2025 the dividend used about 26% of earnings and 15% of free cash flow, which is the cash left after running and investing in the business. The yield was 0.31% as of October 28, 2026, so the shares provide little income. Buybacks totaled about $67 million over fiscal 2021–2025, and the share count rose 12.8% from October 2021 to July 2026. The company warns that it could cut or stop the dividend.
The share price has fallen hard in past downturns. It dropped 94.5% in the 2008 financial crisis and did not recover until February 2011. It fell 32.7% in the 2020 COVID crash but recovered by May 2020. In the 2022 bear market it lost 45.8% and did not recover until March 2024. Single stocks carry more risk than diversified funds.
Questions investors ask
How does Entegris make money?
Entegris sells materials and purity products that chipmakers use throughout production. These include polishing slurries and pads, materials for depositing thin films, specialty gases, cleaning chemistries, filters and purifiers, wafer carriers and high-purity chemical containers. Many are consumables that factories use up and reorder. In fiscal 2025, revenue was $3.2 billion. About 56% came from the Advanced Purity Solutions segment and 44% from Materials Solutions. Chip factories bought about 62% of sales.
Does Entegris benefit from AI?
Indirectly. Entegris does not make AI chips, but it supplies materials and purity products used to make them. The company says AI is driving demand for advanced logic chips and for high bandwidth memory, a type of memory used in AI systems. It believes it is well placed to benefit. Most sales still depend on the broader chip industry, which moves in cycles. Fiscal 2025 revenue fell 1.4%. Revenue in the quarter ended June 27, 2026 rose 11.5% from a year earlier.
Does Entegris pay a dividend?
Yes, but it is small. Entegris paid $0.40 per share in each of fiscal 2022 through 2025, up from $0.32 in 2020 and 2021. That used about 26% of fiscal 2025 earnings and 15% of free cash flow. The dividend yield was 0.31% as of October 28, 2026. The dividend did not rise from fiscal 2022 through 2025, and the company warns it could be reduced or stopped.
How much debt does Entegris have?
As of June 27, 2026, Entegris had about $3.46 billion of debt and $354 million of cash and investments, or net debt of about $3.1 billion. Free cash flow was $396 million in fiscal 2025. The company lists its debt as a risk. Paying interest and repaying the loans takes cash, and the loan terms can restrict what the company does. A filing dated April 29, 2026 reported a new debt obligation.
How has Entegris stock performed?
Returns have swung widely. As of October 28, 2026, the share price was up 89.7% year to date and 74.4% over one year. Over five years it gained only 3.2% a year, and over ten years 26.4% a year. It lost 52.5% in 2022, 17.1% in 2024 and 14.6% in 2025. In the past year it fell as much as 41.8% from a high. The price was 102.8 times fiscal 2025 earnings per share.
