  • Monthly total returns reported for that quarter: +1.74%, -1.02%, +1.03%.

How it works

CGGE does not track an index. Capital Group's investment team picks stocks it believes can grow, and many of them pay dividends. At least 80% of assets go into common stocks and other equity-type securities, such as preferred stock, convertibles and depositary receipts (certificates that represent shares of a foreign company). The managers look for strong management, a growing market, a strong balance sheet, dividends, and above-average growth in earnings, revenue or cash flow. They aim to own fairly priced companies and sell when a stock no longer looks attractive.

The fund must hold stocks from at least three countries, including the US. Normally at least 40% of net assets must be outside the US. That floor drops to 30% if the adviser judges conditions unfavorable. It can also be set by the non-US share of the MSCI World Index minus 5 percentage points, whichever figure is lower. Up to 10% can go to emerging markets. As of August 31, 2026, the US made up 51%, France 7.3%, Japan 7.2% and the UK 5.3%.

The fund is split into segments, and each segment is run by an individual portfolio manager. It is nondiversified, meaning it may put more money into fewer companies. As of August 31, 2026, it held 115 stocks, and the top ten made up 31% of assets. It reported no derivatives. Portfolio turnover was 32%.

What it really costs

  • CGGE charges 0.47% a year, versus an average of 0.11% for the similar funds below (9th of 9, cheapest first).
  • Using the prospectus's standard example, $10,000 invested would cost about $48 in the first year and $591 over 10 years (assuming a 5% annual return).
Cost of $10,000 (SEC example)1 yr3 yrs5 yrs10 yrs

In a retirement portfolio

RoleCore holding

It holds a broad mix of large US and foreign stocks in one fund, though its short record and higher cost are real limits.

CGGE could give a portfolio US and international stocks in one actively managed fund. It launched on June 25, 2024, so it has not been through the 2008, 2020 or 2022 downturns. Its only full calendar year, 2025, returned 24.58%. Its deepest drop was 14.4%, from February 18 to April 8, 2025, and it was back to its prior high by May 12, 2025. That is a mild test. A stock fund can fall much further and take years to recover, which matters to anyone who may need to sell shares during a bad year.

Income is small. The trailing 12-month yield was 0.38% as of October 27, 2026, paid once a year. Costs add up: in the SEC's $10,000 example, fees total $48 after one year and $591 after ten. Past results don't predict future returns, and a plan should look at the whole portfolio, not one fund.

Who it may suit — and who should look elsewhere

May suit

  • Investors wanting one actively managed fund that mixes US stocks with sizable stakes in France, Japan, the UK and the Netherlands.
  • Those who prefer managers choosing growth companies with strong balance sheets, such as Alphabet, Broadcom, Taiwan Semiconductor and ASML, over a fixed index.
  • People drawn to Capital Group's approach of splitting the fund among several individual managers, each running a separate slice.

Look elsewhere if

  • Cost-focused investors: its 0.47% expense ratio ranks 9th of 9 among similar funds, which average 0.11%.
  • Anyone needing regular income: the yield was 0.38% as of October 27, 2026, paid only once a year.
  • Those wanting a long record: launched June 2024, it trailed all eight similar funds over the year to October 27, 2026.

Questions investors ask

Is CGGE an index fund?

No. CGGE is actively managed by Capital Group. Its managers pick stocks they see as fairly priced, with growth potential and strong finances. Several managers each run a separate slice of the fund. It must invest in at least three countries and normally keep at least 40% of net assets outside the US, or a lower floor tied to the MSCI World Index. As of August 31, 2026, it held 115 stocks.

What's the difference between CGGE and MGC?

The biggest differences are cost and approach. Vanguard Mega Cap ETF (MGC) is an index fund of very large companies with a 0.07% expense ratio. CGGE charges 0.47%, and its managers pick stocks worldwide. Their holdings overlap by about 35%. Over the year to October 27, 2026, MGC returned 13.5% and CGGE 9.4%. CGGE also holds companies outside the US, such as ASML, SK hynix and Safran.

Does CGGE pay dividends?

Yes, but only once a year, and the amount is small. Over the 12 months to October 27, 2026, it paid about $0.13 per share, a yield of 0.38%. Many of its stocks pay dividends, but the fund's goal is growth with conservation of principal, not high income. Investors who rely on regular cash payments may find the payouts too small and too infrequent.

What are CGGE's top holdings?

As of August 31, 2026, its largest holdings were Alphabet (4.7%), Broadcom (4.3%), Microsoft (4.0%), Taiwan Semiconductor (3.7%), Apple (3.2%), ASML (2.6%), JPMorgan Chase (2.4%), NVIDIA (2.3%), SK hynix (2.3%) and General Electric (2.0%). Together, these ten made up about 31% of the fund. It held 115 stocks in total, with 51% in US companies.

How has CGGE performed since launch?

Its record is short but positive. According to the prospectus, CGGE returned 24.58% in 2025 and 17.24% a year on average from its June 2024 launch through December 31, 2025. Its market-price return was 9.4% over the year to October 27, 2026. Its deepest drop was 14.4%, in early 2025, and it recovered within about a month. It has not yet been through a major bear market.
