What changed recently

  • Over the three months to May 31, 2026, investors withdrew a net $1.8M (creations minus redemptions, per the N-PORT report).
  • Monthly total returns reported for that quarter: -6.04%, +11.33%, +8.36%.

How it works

BAMG does not track an index. Its adviser picks companies it believes have strong earnings growth potential over the next several years. At least 80% of net assets go into U.S. stocks, including ADRs (bank-issued certificates for shares of foreign companies that trade in the U.S.). The adviser screens small, mid-size and large companies worth at least $1 billion. It weighs current and expected growth, company reputation, relevance to investors and third-party financial ratings. The goal is a mix of high-quality growth stocks that are reasonably priced.

The prospectus sets no weighting formula or rebalancing schedule. The adviser may sell a stock that is no longer reasonably priced or has performed poorly. Portfolio turnover was 64%, meaning trades worth roughly two-thirds of the portfolio in a year. That trading adds costs not included in the expense ratio. Because some sectors hold more growth stocks, the fund can lean into them. As of May 31, 2026, technology was 39.6% of assets, and the 10 largest of its 100 stocks held 40.8%.

Shares trade on the Cboe BZX Exchange at market prices. Those prices can differ from the value of the fund's holdings (its net asset value, or NAV). Only large firms called authorized participants can redeem shares directly with the fund.

What it really costs

  • BAMG charges 0.83% a year, versus an average of 0.13% for the similar funds below (9th of 9, cheapest first).
  • Of that, 0.65% is the management fee; the rest covers other fund expenses.
  • Using the prospectus's standard example, $10,000 invested would cost about $85 in the first year and $1,025 over 10 years (assuming a 5% annual return).

In a retirement portfolio

RoleSatellite (higher risk)

A tech-heavy, actively managed growth fund with a 0.83% fee and a short history fits better as a smaller add-on than as a portfolio's foundation.

BAMG adds concentrated exposure to large U.S. growth companies such as Broadcom, Nvidia and Eli Lilly. It launched in September 2023, so it has no record in the 2008 financial crisis, the 2020 COVID crash or the 2022 bear market. Both of its full calendar years were gains: 23.8% in 2024 and 17.4% in 2025. Its deepest drop was about 21%, from February 19 to April 8, 2025. It recovered by June 27, 2025, about 2.6 months later. Anyone forced to sell during a slide like that would lock in losses.

It produces almost no income. The trailing 12-month yield was 0.01% as of October 27, 2026, paid once a year. Costs are high for the category: in the SEC's standard example, expenses on $10,000 come to $1,025 over 10 years. Past results don't predict the future, and a plan should look at the whole portfolio, not one fund.

Who it may suit — and who should look elsewhere

May suit

  • Investors wanting an actively picked, roughly 100-stock U.S. growth portfolio led by Broadcom, Micron, Alphabet and Amazon rather than an index.
  • Those comfortable with a 39.6% technology weighting and swings like the 21% drop between February and April 2025.
  • Long-term holders who don't need income, since the fund yielded 0.01% as of October 27, 2026 and pays annually.

Look elsewhere if

  • Cost-focused investors: the 0.83% expense ratio ranks 9th of 9 among similar funds, whose average is 0.13%.
  • Anyone wanting a long record: BAMG launched in September 2023 and has no history in the 2008, 2020 or 2022 downturns.
  • Investors aiming to match the S&P 500 Growth Index, which beat BAMG from launch through December 31, 2025: 30.95% versus 24.07% a year.

Questions investors ask

Is BAMG good for retirement?

It depends on the role it plays. BAMG is an actively managed U.S. growth fund with a 0.83% expense ratio (the yearly fee as a share of assets). That is high next to the 0.13% average of similar funds. It pays almost no income: the yield was 0.01% as of October 27, 2026. It fell about 21% in early 2025 and recovered by June 27, 2025. It may suit retirees who want a smaller growth position, not steady income.

What's the difference between BAMG and SPYG?

The biggest differences are approach and cost. BAMG's stocks are picked by an adviser, and it charges 0.83% a year. SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 Growth ETF (SPYG) charges 0.04% and shares about 57% of BAMG's holdings. SPYG had about $53 billion in net assets as of June 30, 2026, against $139 million for BAMG as of May 31, 2026. SPYG returned 27.2% a year over three years through October 30, 2026. BAMG returned 23.7% a year through October 27, 2026, though it led over one year.

Does BAMG pay dividends?

Barely. BAMG makes distributions once a year. Its trailing 12-month yield was 0.01% as of October 27, 2026, or about $0.004 per share. The fund's stated goal is capital appreciation, meaning growth in share value, not income. Investors who need regular cash would have to rely on other holdings or sell shares.

How has BAMG performed compared with the S&P 500 Growth Index?

It has lagged. The prospectus reports results as of December 31, 2025. BAMG returned 17.38% over one year and 24.07% a year since its September 2023 launch. The S&P 500 Growth Index returned 22.23% and 30.95% over the same periods. BAMG did beat the Dow Jones Industrial Average, which returned 14.92% and 19.25%. BAMG's calendar-year returns were 23.83% in 2024 and 17.38% in 2025.

What are BAMG's top holdings?

As of May 31, 2026, BAMG's largest holdings were Broadcom (4.9%), Micron Technology (4.8%), Alphabet (4.6%), Amazon (4.5%), Apple (4.3%), Eli Lilly (4.2%) and Nvidia (4.1%). Meta Platforms, Advanced Micro Devices and Visa round out the top 10. Together, those 10 stocks made up 40.8% of assets. The fund held 100 stocks in all, and technology companies made up 39.6% of the portfolio.
