How it works

QDVO does not track an index. Amplify Investments is the adviser. Sub-adviser Capital Wealth Planning (CWP) picks the stocks, and sub-adviser Penserra Capital Management trades and rebalances the fund to match CWP's model portfolios. CWP picks large companies from the Russell 1000 Growth Index, a benchmark of larger U.S. growth companies. It looks for companies it expects to grow earnings and cash flow steadily, and it overweights sectors and stocks that are beating the market. Under normal conditions, any one sector stays under 50% of the fund and no stock can top 15%. Portfolio turnover was 175%, so holdings change often.

The income comes mainly from covered calls. A call option gives the buyer the right to buy a stock from the fund at a set “strike” price. The fund keeps an upfront payment, called a premium, but gives up any gains above the strike. CWP sells calls that expire in a month or less, and only when it sees an opening, such as a stock rallying or option prices rising. The goal is about 4–6% a year from premiums plus 0–2% from dividends. The fund may also sell uncovered calls on market indexes and ETFs as a hedge. Those can lose money if markets jump.

The fund is “non-diversified,” which means it can put more money into fewer companies. Its top 10 holdings made up about 60% of assets as of June 30, 2026.

What it really costs

  • QDVO charges 0.56% a year, versus an average of 0.24% for the similar funds below (7th of 9, cheapest first).
  • Of that, 0.55% is the management fee; the rest covers other fund expenses.
  • Using the prospectus's standard example, $10,000 invested would cost about $57 in the first year and $— over 10 years (assuming a 5% annual return).

Structure and tax notes

  • Generates much of its income from selling options (directly or through notes). That income is usually taxed as ordinary income rather than as qualified dividends, and the strategy gives up some upside in strong markets.

In a retirement portfolio

RoleIncome

QDVO is built to pay monthly cash from option premiums and dividends while keeping exposure to large U.S. growth stocks.

QDVO could add monthly cash flow while keeping a portfolio invested in growth stocks. Its trailing 12-month yield was 10.63% as of October 27, 2026. That is above the prospectus target of 4–6% from premiums plus 0–2% from dividends, so payouts may not stay that high. Option income is usually taxed as ordinary income. Costs are 0.56% a year, or $57 in the first year on $10,000 under the SEC's standard example.

The track record is short. The fund launched in August 2024, so it has no record through the 2008, 2020 or 2022 downturns. Its only full calendar year, 2025, returned 20.25%. Its deepest drop was 17.7%, from January 23 to April 8, 2025, and it was back to its old high by June 4, 2025. Anyone who sold near the low would have locked in losses. Past results don't predict the future, and a plan should look at the whole portfolio, not one fund.

Who it may suit — and who should look elsewhere

May suit

  • Investors who want monthly payouts from large growth stocks like NVIDIA, Apple and Microsoft. The trailing yield was 10.63% as of October 27, 2026.
  • People who are comfortable letting CWP decide when to sell options instead of following a fixed covered-call schedule, despite 175% turnover.
  • Investors holding it in an IRA or similar account, where option income that is taxed as ordinary income isn't taxed every year.

Look elsewhere if

  • Cost-focused investors: the 0.56% expense ratio compares with 0.04% for Vanguard Growth ETF (VUG) and 0.07% for Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF (MGK).
  • Investors who want a long track record: it launched in August 2024 and has no history through the 2008, 2020 or 2022 downturns.
  • Investors wary of concentration: the top 10 holdings were about 60% of assets as of June 30, 2026, led by technology stocks.

Questions investors ask

Does QDVO pay monthly dividends?

Yes. QDVO pays distributions monthly. Over the 12 months to October 27, 2026, it paid $3.14 per share, a 10.63% trailing yield. The money comes from stock dividends and from premiums the fund collects by selling call options. Option income is usually taxed as ordinary income rather than at the lower rate for qualified dividends. Monthly amounts can change with the market and with how many options the managers sell.

Is QDVO good for retirement income?

It can produce high monthly income, but it carries full stock-market risk. Its one-year beta was 0.99, so it moved almost in step with the market. It fell 17.7% between January and April 2025 before recovering by June 4, 2025. It launched in August 2024, so it has never been tested in a long bear market. It may suit retirees who can ride out drops without selling shares at a low.

What's the difference between QDVO and QTOP?

They own many of the same stocks, about 68% overlap by holdings, but they follow different strategies. iShares Nasdaq Top 30 Stocks ETF (QTOP) holds the largest Nasdaq stocks by index rules. QDVO is actively managed and sells call options for income. QTOP charges 0.20% versus QDVO's 0.56%. As of October 27, 2026, QTOP returned 16.1% over one year and QDVO returned 9.9%. QDVO pays far more income but gives up some upside.

How does QDVO generate such a high yield?

It sells short-term call options on some of its stocks and keeps the premiums as income. Sub-adviser Capital Wealth Planning sells these options only at chosen times, not on every stock all the time. It aims for roughly 4–6% a year from premiums plus 0–2% from dividends. The trailing yield of 10.63% as of October 27, 2026, was above that target. The catch is that the fund gives up gains above the strike price on stocks with options sold.

What is QDVO's expense ratio?

QDVO's expense ratio is 0.56%, including a 0.55% management fee, according to the prospectus filed January 28, 2026. Under the SEC's standard example, $10,000 invested would cost about $57 in fees over one year and $179 over three years. That is more than double the 0.24% average for similar funds. It ranks 7th of 9 on cost, while index funds like Vanguard Growth ETF charge 0.04%.
