It has $126.5M in assets, the 8th largest of that group; it paid 16.08% of its price in distributions over the past 12 months, monthly. Over the past year it returned +9.9% with distributions reinvested (S&P 500: +11.5%), 2nd of those 9 funds. Its ten largest positions make up 65.1% of the fund, out of 23 in all.

The short version

Kurv Technology Titans Select ETF (KQQQ) is an actively managed fund. It holds large technology stocks such as Alphabet and Amazon and sells options on them to produce monthly income. Its trailing 12-month yield was 16.08% as of October 27, 2026. However, selling options limits how much it can gain in strong rallies, and its 0.99% expense ratio is well above the 0.55% average of similar funds.

What changed recently

  • Over the three months to May 31, 2026, investors added a net $10.1M (creations minus redemptions, per the N-PORT report).
  • Monthly total returns reported for that quarter: -4.39%, +18.70%, +12.01%.

How it works

KQQQ does not track an index. Its adviser, Kurv Investment Management, picks U.S. and non-U.S. technology companies, generally worth more than $10 billion, that it believes have favorable outlooks. It looks at traits such as growth and momentum. At least 80% of net assets go to technology companies through stocks, options or other ETFs. That includes Kurv's own single-stock "Yield Premium" ETFs. As of May 31, 2026, the largest positions were Alphabet (11.8%), Amazon (10.1%), Broadcom (7.0%), AMD (6.7%) and Intel (6.6%). The top 10 positions made up 65.1% of assets, and portfolio turnover was 35%.

The fund can own shares outright or build a "synthetic" position. To do that, it buys a call option (the right to buy a stock at a set price) and sells a put option (an obligation to buy at that price) with the same price and end date. Together, the two copy the ups and downs of owning the stock. These synthetic positions can reach 200% of net asset value. Treasury bills made up about 14% of assets.

To produce income, the fund sells call options. It collects cash up front but gives up gains above the agreed price. It may sell more calls than it has shares, and it may sell uncovered calls and puts, which can lose more in sharp market moves. Owning other Kurv ETFs can also add a second layer of fees.

What it really costs

  • KQQQ charges 0.99% a year, versus an average of 0.55% for the similar funds below (9th of 9, cheapest first).
  • The fee includes a 0.02% waiver from the adviser, which may end.
  • Using the prospectus's standard example, $10,000 invested would cost about $101 in the first year and $1,265 over 10 years (assuming a 5% annual return).
Cost of $10,000 (SEC example)1 yr3 yrs5 yrs10 yrs
KQQQ$101$326$569$1,265

Structure and tax notes

  • Generates much of its income from selling options (directly or through notes). That income is usually taxed as ordinary income rather than as qualified dividends, and the strategy gives up some upside in strong markets.

In a retirement portfolio

RoleSatellite (higher risk)

A concentrated, options-heavy technology fund with a one-year beta of 1.47 and barely two years of history fits better as a small add-on than as a foundation.

KQQQ could add high monthly income tied to large technology companies. Its trailing 12-month yield was 16.08% as of October 27, 2026. Most of that payout comes from selling options and is usually taxed as ordinary income, and a high yield does not mean the share price holds up. The fund launched in July 2024, so it was not around for the 2008, 2020 or 2022 downturns. Its deepest drop was 26.1%, from December 24, 2024, to April 8, 2025. It recovered by June 30, 2025. Anyone who had to sell shares near that low would have locked in the loss. In the SEC's standard example, $10,000 invested would cost about $101 in fees in the first year and $1,265 over 10 years. Past results don't predict the future, and a plan should look at the whole portfolio, not one fund.

Who it may suit — and who should look elsewhere

May suit

  • Investors seeking monthly income tied to Alphabet, Amazon, Broadcom and other tech giants who accept giving up some gains in strong rallies.
  • Those holding it as a small position beside a broad core fund, given its 1.47 beta and its past 26.1% drop.
  • People who prefer a manager actively choosing tech positions and option trades over a fund that follows an index.

Look elsewhere if

  • Cost-conscious investors: its 0.99% expense ratio ranked 9th of 9 similar funds, against a 0.55% average.
  • Anyone wanting a long track record. The fund launched in July 2024 and missed the 2020 and 2022 bear markets.
  • Investors in taxable accounts seeking qualified dividends, since income from selling options is usually taxed as ordinary income.

Questions investors ask

Does KQQQ pay monthly dividends?

Yes. KQQQ pays distributions monthly. Over the 12 months through October 27, 2026, it paid $4.54 per share, a trailing yield of 16.08%. Most of this income comes from selling options, not from company dividends. It is usually taxed as ordinary income rather than at lower qualified-dividend rates. A high payout can also come alongside a falling share price, so yield alone says little about total return.

What's the difference between KQQQ and FEPI?

Both sell options on large tech stocks for income, and their holdings overlapped by 47%. FEPI (REX FANG & Innovation Equity Premium Income ETF) costs 0.65% a year, compared with KQQQ's 0.99%. As of October 27, 2026, KQQQ's one-year return was 9.9% and FEPI's was 7.6%. FEPI is larger, with $647 million in net assets as of July 31, 2026. KQQQ had $126 million as of May 31, 2026. KQQQ can also use synthetic positions and other Kurv ETFs.

Is KQQQ a leveraged ETF?

Not in the usual sense. It does not aim for a daily multiple such as 2x the market. Still, its prospectus lets it build synthetic stock positions with options worth up to 200% of net asset value. It may also sell uncovered calls and puts and use FLEX options, which are customized exchange-traded options. Its one-year beta was 1.47 as of October 27, 2026. That means it has tended to swing more than the overall market.

Is KQQQ good for retirement income?

It may suit a small part of a retirement portfolio, but its risks are high for a core holding. The 16.08% trailing yield (as of October 27, 2026) is paid monthly. But the fund is concentrated in tech, launched only in July 2024 and fell 26.1% from December 2024 to April 2025. Its 0.99% expense ratio was the highest among nine similar funds. Selling options also limits its gains in strong rallies.

How has KQQQ performed since launch?

KQQQ returned 16.97% in 2025, its only full calendar year. Its average annual return from launch through December 31, 2025, was 19.9%, according to its prospectus. Based on price, it returned 9.9% over the year ending October 27, 2026, and 13.0% for 2026 through that date. Its weakest quarter was a 12.88% loss in early 2025, and its strongest was a 19.54% gain in the following quarter.
