The short version

How it works
THNR aims to match the VettaFi Weight Loss Drug & Treatment Index before fees, generally holding every stock in it. VettaFi screens developed and emerging markets for companies worth at least $500 million that trade at least $1 million a day on average. It then picks 20 in three groups: makers of GLP-1 or amylin drugs (medicines that mimic hormones controlling appetite and blood sugar), makers of drugs meant to be combined with them, and telehealth (online medical care) firms that provide access to them.
Stocks are weighted by float-adjusted market value (counting only shares available to the public), then capped by type. Companies with a drug on the market can reach 15%, those with one in late-stage (phase 3) trials 8%, and all others 5%. Positions above 5% together cannot exceed 45%. The index is rebuilt and reweighted quarterly, after the close on the third Friday of March, June, September and December.
The fund is non-diversified, meaning it can concentrate in a few companies: as of June 30, 2026, the top 10 made up about 60% of assets, led by Novo Nordisk (9.8%) and Eli Lilly (9.3%). The prospectus reports 70% portfolio turnover, roughly the share of holdings replaced in a year; those trading costs are not in the expense ratio.
What it really costs
- THNR charges 0.59% a year, versus an average of 0.48% for the similar funds below (6th of 9, cheapest first).
- Using the prospectus's standard example, $10,000 invested would cost about $60 in the first year and $738 over 10 years (assuming a 5% annual return).
| Cost of $10,000 (SEC example) | 1 yr | 3 yrs | 5 yrs | 10 yrs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| THNR | $60 | $189 | $329 | $738 |
In a retirement portfolio
It is a concentrated, 20-stock bet on one drug theme that once fell 32.5%, so it fits as a small add-on rather than a foundation.
As a small slice, THNR adds focused exposure to weight-loss drug makers. It launched in May 2024, so it has no record from the 2008, 2020 or 2022 downturns. Its worst calendar year is also its only full one: 2025, up 13.26% per its prospectus. The test came earlier: from August 30, 2024, to April 8, 2025, it fell 32.5%, then took about 16 months, until August 19, 2026, to recover. Anyone drawing cash during that stretch would have locked in losses.
It yielded a modest 1.67% over the 12 months to October 27, 2026, paid annually. Its 0.59% fee is well above Vanguard Health Care ETF's 0.09%; the SEC's standard example ($10,000 invested, 5% annual returns) puts costs at $738 over 10 years. Past results don't predict future returns, and a sound plan looks at the whole portfolio, not one fund.
Who it may suit — and who should look elsewhere
May suit
- Investors wanting a small, targeted stake in the weight-loss drug theme, from Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly to Viking Therapeutics and Hims & Hers.
- Those comfortable with sharp swings: this non-diversified, 20-stock fund fell 32.5% from August 2024 to April 2025 and took about 16 months to recover.
- Investors wanting global reach: as of June 30, 2026, about 13% was in Denmark and 12% in China, plus Japan, the UK and Switzerland.
Look elsewhere if
- Anyone seeking broad health care exposure at low cost: Vanguard Health Care ETF charges 0.09% a year, versus THNR's 0.59%.
- Investors wary of tiny funds: THNR held about $4.4 million as of June 30, 2026, the smallest in its group of nine similar funds.
- Retirees who need steady income: the yield was 1.67% over the 12 months to October 27, 2026, and distributions arrive once a year.

Questions investors ask
What does THNR ETF invest in?
THNR invests in about 20 global companies expected to benefit from weight-loss drugs, following the VettaFi Weight Loss Drug & Treatment Index. Amplify Investments is the issuer. As of June 30, 2026, the largest holdings were Novo Nordisk (9.8%), Eli Lilly (9.3%), Scholar Rock (5.7%), Hims & Hers Health (5.6%) and Viking Therapeutics (5.5%). The top 10 made up about 60% of assets. US companies were about 57%, with most of the rest in Denmark, China, Japan, the UK and Switzerland.
What's the difference between THNR and OZEM?
The biggest difference is size. Both funds target weight-loss drug stocks and charge 0.59% a year, and their holdings overlapped by about 61% in their latest SEC holdings reports. But Roundhill GLP-1 & Weight Loss ETF (OZEM) held about $54.1 million as of June 30, 2026, versus about $4.4 million for THNR. Returns have been similar: over the year to October 27, 2026, THNR gained 8.1% and OZEM 6.8%. THNR follows VettaFi's index, with weight caps tied to each company's drug stage.
How has THNR performed since launch?
THNR has been roughly flat from its May 21, 2024, launch through October 27, 2026. Its prospectus reports a 13.26% gain in 2025, its only full calendar year. The ride was bumpy: the fund fell 32.5% between August 30, 2024, and April 8, 2025, and did not regain its peak until August 19, 2026. It returned 8.1% over the year to October 27, 2026, ranking eighth of nine similar funds, and was down 2.4% for 2026 through that date.
What is THNR's expense ratio?
THNR's expense ratio, the yearly fee taken out of fund assets, is 0.59%, according to its prospectus filed January 28, 2026. That is above the 0.48% average for similar funds and ranks sixth-cheapest of nine. The SEC's standard example assumes $10,000 invested, a 5% annual return and shares cashed in at the end of each period. On that basis, total costs come to about $60 after one year, $189 after three, $329 after five and $738 after ten. Vanguard Health Care ETF, a broader alternative, charges 0.09%.
Does THNR pay dividends?
Yes, but the payout is modest and comes only once a year. THNR paid about $0.41 per share over the 12 months to October 27, 2026, a yield of 1.67%. That income comes from dividends on the drug and health stocks it holds, passed along after fees. Because the whole year's payout arrives at once, investors who rely on regular monthly or quarterly income may find it awkward to plan around.
