How it works
BILD does not track an index. Delaware Management Company, its adviser, picks the stocks, seeking both price growth and income. Normally at least 80% of net assets go into listed infrastructure companies: firms earning at least half their revenue or profits from infrastructure assets, or committing at least half their assets to them. That covers utilities, airports, highways, railways, ports, pipelines, renewable power, cell towers and data centers.
At least 40% of total assets normally sit in non-US stocks (30% if the manager judges market conditions warrant it), and some can come from developing (emerging) markets. As of June 30, 2026, 40% was in US companies, 13% in the UK, 11% in Spain and 10% in Canada. The manager may skip companies under $2 billion in market value that it considers hard to trade, and large ones with few publicly available shares.
Stock picking is bottom-up: the manager researches individual companies, weighing its own valuation estimates, checks on management and each stock's risks. The same analysis guides when to trim or exit a holding. As of June 30, 2026, Enbridge was the largest position at 5.9% and the top 10 made up 37%. Turnover, the share of the portfolio replaced over a year, was 34%. The fund uses no leverage and held no derivatives on that date.
What it really costs
- BILD charges 0.49% a year, versus an average of 0.33% for the similar funds below (9th of 9, cheapest first).
- Using the prospectus's standard example, $10,000 invested would cost about $50 in the first year and $616 over 10 years (assuming a 5% annual return).
| Cost of $10,000 (SEC example) | 1 yr | 3 yrs | 5 yrs | 10 yrs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BILD | $50 | $157 | $274 | $616 |
In a retirement portfolio
Its global mix of infrastructure companies, from utilities to airports, has moved only loosely with the broader market, with a one-year beta of 0.25 as of October 27, 2026.
BILD could add global infrastructure stocks and quarterly income alongside broad stock and bond funds, yielding 4.93% over the 12 months to October 27, 2026. Launched November 28, 2023, it has no record from the 2008, 2020 or 2022 downturns. Its worst calendar year was 2024, a 2.7% loss. Its deepest drop, 14.8%, ran from September 16, 2024 to January 13, 2025; it recovered by June 2, 2025, about 4.6 months after the low. Anyone withdrawing money during a slide like that may have to cash in shares at lower prices, though dividends could cover part of a withdrawal.
Watch cost and size: 0.49% a year, above the 0.33% average of similar funds, and just $7.4 million in net assets as of June 30, 2026; tiny funds close more often. Past results don't predict the future, and a plan needs to look at the whole portfolio, not one fund.
Who it may suit — and who should look elsewhere
May suit
- Investors seeking income from global infrastructure stocks: the yield over the past year was 4.93% as of October 27, 2026, paid quarterly.
- Retirees wanting stocks that move less with the market: one-year beta, a market-sensitivity gauge, was 0.25 as of October 27, 2026.
- Investors wanting actively chosen global infrastructure (Enbridge pipelines, United Utilities water, Auckland and Paris airports, Cellnex towers) with at least 40% outside the US.
Look elsewhere if
- Cost-focused investors: the 0.49% annual expense ratio is the highest of nine similar funds; IGF charges 0.42% and GII 0.40%.
- Those preferring index tracking: through December 31, 2025, this active fund returned 10.31% a year since launch, versus 19.4% for the S&P Global Infrastructure Index.
- Investors wary of small, young funds: launched November 2023, BILD had the smallest assets of nine similar funds as of June 30, 2026.

Questions investors ask
Is BILD actively managed or an index fund?
BILD is actively managed and does not try to track an index. Delaware Management Company, the fund's investment adviser, chooses infrastructure stocks through company-by-company research, its own valuation analysis and checks on management. The prospectus filed July 29, 2026 calls the fund the Nomura Global Listed Infrastructure ETF. It compares results with the MSCI World Index (Net) and the S&P Global Infrastructure Index (Net), but its holdings and weights can differ from both.
What is BILD's expense ratio?
BILD's expense ratio, the annual fee taken out of fund assets, is 0.49%, all of it management fee, per its prospectus filed July 29, 2026. In the SEC's standard example, an investor with $10,000 earning 5% a year would pay about $50 in the first year, $274 over five years and $616 over 10 years. That is more than all eight similar funds we compared, such as SPDR S&P Global Infrastructure ETF (GII) at 0.40%; their average is 0.33%.
Does BILD pay monthly dividends?
No. BILD pays distributions quarterly, not monthly. Over the 12 months to October 27, 2026, it paid $1.44 per share, a trailing yield of 4.93%. That income comes from dividends paid by the infrastructure companies it owns, so payouts can rise or fall with their profits and payout policies and, for its many non-US holdings, with currency exchange rates. A trailing yield describes past payments and is not a promise of future income.
What's the difference between BILD and IGF?
The biggest differences are cost and size. BILD charges 0.49% a year, while iShares Global Infrastructure ETF (IGF) charges 0.42%. IGF had about $10.8 billion in net assets as of June 30, 2026, against BILD's $7.4 million. BILD is actively managed, meaning a manager chooses its holdings. Both hold global infrastructure stocks, and their portfolios overlap by about 38%. Returns were close: in the year to October 27, 2026, IGF gained 7.8% and BILD 7.1%.
How has BILD performed since it launched?
BILD trailed its infrastructure benchmark from launch through 2025. From its November 28, 2023 start through December 31, 2025, it returned an average of 10.31% a year, versus 19.4% for the S&P Global Infrastructure Index (Net) and 21.9% for the MSCI World Index (Net). It lost 2.7% in 2024 and gained 20.98% in 2025. Based on market prices, it was up 8.2% year to date through October 27, 2026, and 7.1% over the prior 12 months.
