How it works
BEEZ is actively managed: rather than tracking an index, its sub-adviser, Honeytree Investment Management Ltd., picks stocks for this ETF Architect fund. At least 80% of net assets go into U.S. companies. Honeytree looks for what it calls “responsibly growing” firms: those with a clear stated purpose, governance that weighs employees, customers and the environment alongside shareholders, and steady earnings and dividend growth not driven by acquisitions or debt.
The process starts with about 2,860 U.S.-listed stocks (as of September 30, 2025). Roughly 25 mostly number-based tests narrow these to about 50 profitable companies worth over $5 billion. The tests include revenue and dividend growth, board diversity, investment-grade credit and bans on gambling, adult entertainment, weapons, tobacco and fossil fuels. Each company is then scored on about 45 equally weighted financial and ESG (environmental, social and governance) measures, such as debt capacity, emissions growth and business ethics, grouped into 12 pillars. Human review then picks fewer than 30.
Each holding gets the same weight, reset quarterly, so Badger Meter counts as much as Visa. Winners drift up between resets: Lam Research was 5.65% of assets as of June 30, 2026. The shortlist of about 50 is rebuilt yearly, and a holding that slips on any criterion is swapped for a top-ranked one. Turnover, the share of holdings replaced in a year, was 33%.
What it really costs
- BEEZ charges 0.64% a year, versus an average of 0.35% for the similar funds below.
- Using the prospectus's standard example, $10,000 invested would cost about $65 in the first year and $798 over 10 years (assuming a 5% annual return).
| Cost of $10,000 (SEC example) | 1 yr | 3 yrs | 5 yrs | 10 yrs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BEEZ | $65 | $205 | $357 | $798 |
In a retirement portfolio
With fewer than 30 equally weighted, ESG-screened stocks, a 0.64% fee and less than three years of history, it fits better as a smaller complement to a broad stock fund than as the main holding.
BEEZ launched November 6, 2023, so it has no record in the 2008 financial crisis, the 2020 COVID crash or the 2022 bear market. Its deepest drop, 18.6% from December 4, 2024, to April 8, 2025, was made up by August 13, 2025, about four months after the low. Its weaker full calendar year, 2025, still gained 5.6%. Anyone withdrawing money near that low would have locked in losses, and that short record says little about how fewer than 30 stocks hold up in a long bear market.
Income is minimal: dividends over the 12 months to October 27, 2026, came to a 0.5% yield, paid once a year. In the SEC's standard example on $10,000, the 0.64% expense ratio costs $65 the first year and $798 over 10 years. Past results don't predict the future, and a plan needs to consider the whole portfolio, not one fund.
Who it may suit — and who should look elsewhere
May suit
- Investors wanting ESG-screened stocks, with fossil fuels, weapons, tobacco, gambling and adult entertainment excluded, who accept a concentrated portfolio of fewer than 30 companies.
- Those wanting a complement to a broad index fund, leaning toward industrial and technology firms such as Watts Water, Fastenal, Lam Research and ServiceNow.
- Those wanting stock exposure with milder swings than the market: one-year beta, a gauge of market sensitivity, was 0.68 as of October 27, 2026.
Look elsewhere if
- Cost-focused investors: the 0.64% expense ratio is well above the 0.35% charged by STXD, the fund with the most similar holdings.
- Anyone needing regular income: dividends equaled a 0.5% yield over the 12 months to October 27, 2026, paid just once a year.
- Investors expecting market-like returns: through December 31, 2025, it averaged 14.61% a year since launch versus 25.43% for the Solactive GBS United States 500 Index.

Questions investors ask
What stocks are in BEEZ?
BEEZ had 25 holdings as of June 30, 2026, and its 10 largest positions made up 45.1% of assets. The biggest were Lam Research (5.65%), Watts Water Technologies (5.12%), Badger Meter (4.82%), Agilent Technologies (4.43%) and Fastenal (4.23%). ServiceNow, Sherwin-Williams, Visa, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Federal Signal rounded out the top 10. About 85% of assets were in U.S.-based companies, with the rest in firms based in Ireland, such as Linde, and Canada.
Is BEEZ an ESG ETF?
Yes. BEEZ's sub-adviser, Honeytree Investment Management, builds environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into every stage of stock selection and weights them equally with financial measures. The fund excludes gambling, adult entertainment, weapons, tobacco and fossil fuel companies. It also scores firms on items such as emissions growth, diversity in leadership, business ethics and handling of hazardous waste. Its prospectus warns that this ESG focus limits the fund's choices and may cause it to trail funds without one.
How has BEEZ performed compared to the market?
It has trailed a broad U.S. stock index by a wide margin. As of December 31, 2025, BEEZ returned 5.61% over one year and averaged 14.61% a year since its November 6, 2023, launch, according to its prospectus. The Solactive GBS United States 500 Index, which reflects no fees, returned 18.06% and 25.43% over the same periods. Based on market price, BEEZ gained 7.3% in the 12 months to October 27, 2026.
BEEZ vs STXD: what's the difference?
STXD, the Strive 1000 Dividend Growth ETF, is cheaper and much larger, but it shares only 18% of BEEZ's holdings, so it is not a close substitute. STXD charges 0.35% a year versus 0.64% for BEEZ. As of June 30, 2026, STXD had about $67.2 million in net assets and BEEZ about $5.8 million. Over the year to October 27, 2026, STXD returned 8% and BEEZ 7.3%. BEEZ is actively managed, with fewer than 30 equally weighted, ESG-screened stocks.
Does BEEZ pay dividends?
Yes, but only a little, and only once a year. BEEZ paid $0.18 per share over the 12 months to October 27, 2026, a trailing yield of 0.5%. The fund's stated goal is capital appreciation, meaning growth in share value, not income. Retirees who rely on regular cash from their investments would need to draw it from other holdings or cash in BEEZ shares to cover withdrawals.
