How it works
TEKX does not track an index. It is actively managed: Galaxy Digital Capital Management LP, the sub-adviser, picks the stocks. At least 80% of net assets normally go into companies the prospectus describes as the "value chain" behind new technologies such as blockchain and artificial intelligence. These include bitcoin miners, energy producers, chipmakers, and data center and cloud computing firms. Changing that 80% rule requires 60 days' notice to shareholders.
Galaxy uses economic, company and statistical analysis to choose sectors and stocks. It tracks data such as GDP growth, inflation, interest rates and jobs, plus government and central-bank policy. It weighs company finances and checks whether valuations look cheap or expensive compared with history and peers. It also studies market trends statistically. The prospectus describes no fixed weighting formula or rebalancing schedule, leaving position sizes to the manager. The prospectus reports 124% turnover, meaning the fund traded more than its whole portfolio's value in a year.
The fund concentrates, with more than 25% of assets in a group of industries: electrical equipment; oil, gas and consumable fuels; semiconductors; and software. As of July 31, 2026, it had 33 holdings, 63% in the top 10, and no derivatives. It may own foreign stocks and depositary receipts (US-traded certificates for foreign shares). Like any ETF, its market price can drift from its holdings' value.
What it really costs
- TEKX charges 0.65% a year, versus an average of 0.59% for the similar funds below (5th of 8, cheapest first).
- Using the prospectus's standard example, $10,000 invested would cost about $66 in the first year and $810 over 10 years (assuming a 5% annual return).
| Cost of $10,000 (SEC example) | 1 yr | 3 yrs | 5 yrs | 10 yrs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TEKX | $66 | $208 | $362 | $810 |
In a retirement portfolio
It is a concentrated, actively managed bet on AI and blockchain infrastructure that moved about 2.5 times as much as the market over the year to October 27, 2026, so it fits a small slice of a portfolio rather than its foundation.
TEKX could add focused exposure to the energy, chip, software and bitcoin-mining companies behind AI and blockchain, but its record is short. It launched September 9, 2024, so it did not exist during the 2008, 2020 or 2022 downturns. Its only full calendar year, 2025, returned 41.17%. Even so, its deepest drop was 45.5%, from November 11, 2024 to April 8, 2025. It took about five months from that low to recover, by September 9, 2025. It also lost 24.3% in the month to October 27, 2026. Anyone forced to cash out or draw income during a slide like that could lock in steep losses. Income is minimal: a 0.28% yield, paid annually, as of October 27, 2026. The 0.65% expense ratio works out to $66 in the first year on $10,000 under the SEC's standard example. Past results don't predict the future, and a plan should look at the whole portfolio, not one fund.
Who it may suit — and who should look elsewhere
May suit
- Investors wanting a small, actively managed slice of AI and blockchain infrastructure: bitcoin miners, chipmakers, software, and energy and electrical-equipment companies.
- Long-horizon investors who can sit through swings like the 45.5% drop from November 2024 to April 2025 without needing to cash out.
- Those who prefer Galaxy Digital's active stock picks to an index and accept a 0.65% fee and 124% portfolio turnover.
Look elsewhere if
- Retirees seeking income: the yield was 0.28% as of October 27, 2026, paid once a year.
- Investors seeking a steady core holding: as of October 27, 2026, its one-year beta of 2.52 meant swings about 2.5 times the market's.
- Cost-focused investors: Fidelity's FDIG charges 0.40% and iShares' IBLC 0.47%, versus 0.65% here, though their holdings overlap TEKX's by only 24% and 28%, respectively.

Questions investors ask
What does TEKX invest in?
TEKX invests in companies tied to artificial intelligence and blockchain infrastructure. As of July 31, 2026, it had 33 holdings, with 63% in the top 10. The largest were Riot Platforms (12.2%), Keel Infrastructure (10.6%), CleanSpark (6.3%), Siemens Energy (6.0%) and Cipher Digital (5.6%), followed by Microsoft, NVIDIA, Applied Digital, Hubbell and Freeport-McMoRan. About 90% was in US companies, and most of the rest was in Germany and Taiwan. It held no derivatives.
Is TEKX good for retirement?
TEKX looks more like a small, high-risk side holding than a core retirement holding. It launched September 9, 2024, so it has no record through broad market downturns such as 2008, 2020 or 2022. Over the year to October 27, 2026, it moved about 2.5 times as much as the market. It fell 45.5% from November 2024 to April 2025 before recovering by September 2025. It pays little income, and with about $16 million in assets as of July 31, 2026, it is a very small fund.
What's the difference between TEKX and DECO?
Not much in cost or holdings, but returns have differed. DECO, the SPDR Galaxy Digital Asset Ecosystem ETF, overlapped with TEKX's holdings by 74% in the funds' latest SEC holdings reports, and both charge 0.65% a year. Over the year to October 27, 2026, TEKX returned 13% and DECO 5.7%. As of July 31, 2026, DECO held about $20.5 million and TEKX about $16.0 million. TEKX's prospectus explicitly targets energy, chip and software companies tied to AI, as well as bitcoin miners.
Does TEKX pay dividends?
Yes, but very little, and only once a year. TEKX paid $0.14 per share over the year to October 27, 2026, a yield of 0.28%. That fits its stated objective of long-term capital appreciation (growth in share value) rather than income. Anyone relying on portfolio income would need it from other holdings or from cashing in shares. Cashing in after a steep drop, like the 24.3% fall in the month to October 27, 2026, can lock in losses.
What is TEKX's expense ratio?
TEKX's expense ratio, the yearly fee taken from fund assets, is 0.65%, all of it management fee, per its prospectus filed February 25, 2026. In the SEC's standard example of $10,000 invested with a 5% annual return, costs would total about $66 after one year, $362 after five years and $810 after 10 years. The 0.65% fee is above the 0.59% average of seven similar funds. Fidelity's FDIG (0.40%) and iShares' IBLC (0.47%) cost less, while WGMI (0.75%) and BITQ (0.85%) cost more.
